Masters de Feu 2026: ten years of pyrotechnic magic in Compiègne

On September 19, 2026, Masters de Feu will celebrate ten years of pyrotechnic creation at the Hippodrome de Compiègne. This anniversary edition opens a new competition cycle toward the Silver Master, with three international houses in competition and a decade of emotion to celebrate.

Masters de Feu 2026: dix ans de magie pyrotechnique à Compiègne

Ten years after their first spark, Masters de Feu is preparing to write an anniversary chapter in the sky above Compiègne. On September 19, 2026, the Hippodrome will host a deeply symbolic edition: an international pyrotechnic art competition that has, over the years, become a much-anticipated event for fireworks enthusiasts, families, the curious, and lovers of grand open-air spectacles. Created in 2016, Masters de Feu has established a distinctive signature: bringing together the power of fire, musical precision, and shared emotion in a competition where every second counts.

A decade of fireworks, high standards, and emotion

Since 2016, Masters de Feu has upheld a strong belief: a fireworks display can be much more than a grand finale. It can become a story, a choreography, an ephemeral work in which color, rhythm, silence, and surprise come together as a complete experience. In Compiègne, pyrotechnicians do not come only to showcase technical expertise; they come to defend an artistic vision, a universe, a way of making the audience vibrate through light.

This commitment has helped the competition establish itself among Europe’s leading pyrotechnic events. In ten years, the event has welcomed more than 120 000 spectators and companies from many countries: Italy, Spain, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Germany, Finland, Poland, Portugal, Greece, Belgium, and Romania. Each has brought its own firework culture, signature effects, and way of shaping the music and emotional build-up of a show.

Compiègne, an open-air stage for international pyrotechnics

The choice of Compiègne is no coincidence. The Hippodrome offers a vast, clear, spectacular setting ideal for ambitious creations. The public experiences the competition as a full evening: gates opening in the late afternoon, entertainment, on-site dining, the public jury draw, the opening show, the competing performances, the awards ceremony, and then the closing finale. The event thus takes the form of a major popular gathering, with the standards of an international competition.

For one evening, the city becomes an open stage facing the sky. Spectators do not simply watch pyrotechnic effects: they follow a dramatic narrative. The fireworks respond to one another, styles oppose each other, signatures emerge. One team may favor millimetric precision in sequencing, another visual impact, another the finesse of musical synchronization. This contrast is what gives Masters de Feu its intensity: each performance offers a different reading of the same art.

2026: an anniversary edition and the start of a new cycle

The 2026 edition will mark both an anniversary and a beginning. After the 2025 Gold Master final, won by Pyrogènie Feuerwerk GmbH for Germany, Masters de Feu will open a new selection period. From 2026 to 2028, the editions will determine the winners who will join the great 2029 Super Final, where the prestigious Gold Master will be awarded. 2026 will therefore be not only commemorative, but also the launch of a new competitive journey.

Three companies have been announced for this anniversary edition: Xena Pyrotechnics for Holland, Surex for Poland, and Minhota Pirotecnia for Portugal. Three countries, three traditions, three pyrotechnic sensibilities will compete under the same rules. The opening and closing shows, outside the competition, will be provided by Arteventia, entrusted with framing the evening with two spectacular highlights.

Rules designed to judge art, not resources

The strength of Masters de Feu also lies in the fairness of its format. Participating companies work with the same budget, the same theme, and the same show duration. For fifteen minutes, each competitor must create a complete, coherent, and memorable proposal. Constraint then becomes a revealing force: how do you surprise with the same means as your rivals? How do you assert a style without excess? How do you create emotion while respecting a precise musical architecture?

The jury evaluates performances according to several criteria: overall aesthetics, emotional impact, synchronization, diversity of effects, and the quality of the pyrotechnic choreography. The public also plays an essential role through online voting to decide the Public Prize. This dual perspective, expert and popular, gives the awards special depth: a firework display must convince through its technique, but also move those who experience it live.

A jury where culture, spectacle, and the public gaze meet

Over the years, Masters de Feu has brought together juries with highly diverse profiles. Personalities from cinema, television, music, sport, stage direction, and cultural life have all contributed their perspective on the creations. Among the names associated with the competition’s history are Gérard Jugnot, Philippe Candeloro, Sandra Lou, Corinne and Gilles Benizio, Zahia Ziouani, Catherine Davydzenka, Hervé Niquet, as well as representatives of Compiègne and the pyrotechnic world.

This diversity is not incidental. It reflects the fact that top-level pyrotechnics is an art of perception. A specialist will analyze the precision of the launches, the quality of the products, the clarity of the composition, or the use of space. An artist will be sensitive to rhythm, dramaturgy, and the breathing of the whole. A general audience member will judge through immediate emotion, surprise, and awe. At Masters de Feu, all these readings come together.

An awards list that tells the story of the competition

The Masters de Feu awards list reflects this rise in stature. In 2016, Parente Fireworks, for Italy, won the first Silver Master and the Public Prize. In 2017, Nanos Fireworks, for Greece, took the title in turn. Grand Final, for France, won the Silver Master and the Public Prize in 2018 before claiming the Gold Master in 2019. More recently, SUGYP SA, Pyrogènie Feuerwerk GmbH, and Joho Pyro have added their names to the awards list, confirming the competition’s European dimension.

These results are not merely archive entries. They form a shared memory made up of evenings, themes, suspended images, and shared reactions. Each winner left its mark on the audience in its own way: through the nobility of a tableau, the boldness of a sequence, the precision of a finale, or the ability to transform the Hippodrome of Compiègne into an emotional stage.

Ten years of magic, and a sky still to be created

The 2026 anniversary invites reflection on the road already traveled, but also on the future of the competition. In ten years, Masters de Feu has accompanied the evolution of a more narrative, more musical pyrotechnic art, one more attentive to the spectator’s overall experience. Fireworks today no longer aim only to impress; they seek to compose, to tell a story, to create a shared memory in just a few minutes.

On September 19, 2026, Compiègne will therefore celebrate far more than a round date. It will celebrate a loyalty: that of the pyrotechnicians to their art, that of the public to an event that has become iconic, and that of a competition that has turned light into a universal language. Ten years after its birth, the flame of Masters de Feu still burns brightly. And the sky, for its part, has not finished being written.
